Impressions

How much time would it save if your dental assistant could take perfect, bubble free impressions! Whether it be opposing impressions, preop impressions before crown prep, diagnostic impressions or impressions for whitening or occlusal splints.

Taking a perfect impression starts with learning how to select the correct tray and how to use different materials. Different materials are chosen based on what the impression is for and can either be alginate, silicone or putty. Each material is used different.

Clinical Note Taking

  • How to have your dental assistant writing all of your clinical notes and writing them better than you! Having your assistant writing the conversation and procedure in ‘real time’ means that all important documentation will be included. No more staying back at work for hours trying to remember the finer details of every appointment, which means more time for the important things like…. Posting cases on facebook.
  • How to record thorough and comprehensive clinical notes efficiently with the utilization of fast notes.

Patient Communication

Learn how to confidently present and explain treatment plans to patients using language that are easy for patients to understand. Patients that understand their treatment are more likely to go ahead with treatment, which means more treatment acceptance and increased production. Having your dental assistant present treatment plans after a consultation, means more time for you to do the more important things, and the patient leaves their appointment with all the information needed and not feeling rushed out the door.

Learn how to explain basic procedures in a few simple sentences so patients have a good understanding of the process.

Learn the importance of written consent forms and how to explain the them to patients using words that they can understand easily. Whenever there are risks involved in treatment, it is important that the patient is aware. Written and verbal consent is ALWAYS required prior to any treatment.

Protocols and Checklists

How to create and use checklists for all procedures to ensure that all necessary equipment is out and ready to be used. Utilizing software to ensure that you never need to ask for something during an appointment again.

How to save time during appointments by having your assistant take pre op photos, shade photo’s for crowns, pre op impressions for temporary crown and placing topical. This means you can join the appointment and get straight into the procedure.

Learn ways to make your patients feel special. Most often even the smallest things can have a big impact, and if you go above and beyond to ensure your patients feel special, they will never want to see anyone else!
