We invite you to join our Facebook Group for Dentists where we share and discuss complex dental cases.

Restorative Implant Practice Excellence (RIPE) Facebook Group

This is not your typical Facebook Group! We will not tolerate trolls and idiots.

The purpose of this group is to share information on how to do cases, with excellence.

We believe that dentistry is hard. Mastering this multifaceted blend of surgery, artistry and psychology is a lifework. Our university training barely scratches the surface of mastery. Aiming to create a global standard of excellence everywhere, RIPE transcends borders. Through online resources, we bring world class education to every dentist internationally.

RIPE brings dental educators and innovators at the top of their game together and provides the bridge that connects them to dentists, filling in educational gaps. We build skill and understanding, not just knowledge. We want to see the hands working in sync with the brain.

We believe in asking “Why?”, “Is there a better way?”, pursuing understanding of what consistently works, not trusting in dogma or tradition (just because it’s always been done that way doesn’t mean it’s the best or only way). RIPE hand-picks teachers who are practicing dental professionals with skin in the game.

The foundation of RIPE is based on full protocol documentation and using procedures that result in predictable, repeatable and teachable treatment outcomes. It is essential to have accountability and compassion with our patients and with our own mental wellbeing, which is why we nurture a community that connects dentists with other dentists who understand what we face every day.We believe that success follows the learning curve after failure.

Our mistakes teach us the most valuable lesson of all: That we have a need for more learning and whichever stage we are at in our career and our learning, there is always room for more.

We believe that failure is not the end, but the beginning of mastery.

Group Rules:

1. No advertisements without permission. If your first post is an advertisement, you will get banned.

2. No clickbait before and after photos. All cases must show the full protocol. At least enough steps that we get some idea of how it was done. In particular, show the prep photo for any indirect or endo work, and radiographs if you have them.

3. Critique of others work must be respectful, gentle and geared toward helping them improve rather than just stroking your own ego by beating them harshly. If you cannot control yourself, and are constantly aggressively beating and criticising others, you will be evicted.

4. Cases do not need to be perfect. We understand that most learning comes from the cases that aren't perfect, rather than the ones that are.

5. We encourage less experienced clinicians to photograph their work. This will teach you to see your work. We encourage you to post. However please put effort into taking the photographs correctly and documenting well.

6. Realising that we cannot do excellent dentistry without also having good marketing, good staff, and good practices, ideas to improve these areas may also be shared.

7. Do not post on other groups and link it here. It will be deleted. Post directly to RIPE or post to your page then share it here.

8. Do not make assumptions about the ethics of others because their cases are different to your own.

9. The sharing of your own complications are encouraged. The under-reporting of complications is a problem everywhere in dentistry.

10. We prefer to see your daily work. While there is something to learn from your "special" cases that you spent uneconomic amounts of time on, there is more to learnt from your daily work flow.

11. You may put a personal watermark on the photo. It must not be so big and glaring that it obscures the clinical picture.

12. Please declare your economic interests if you constantly supported by a company with sponsorship.

13. If you post surgical photos, please post the follow ups. Surgical photos without follow ups leave us feeling it probably failed and you were too embarrassed to share.

14. If you are a big supporter of R.I.P.E., and a frequent poster, and have a blue badge or higher, you may contact an admin if you have some personally involved event that you want to advertise. We will tell you the appropriate way to do so.

15. All dental professionals are welcome.

16. Manners matter. Rudeness and abruptness is not acceptable.
